Why You Should Add Witch Hazel To Your Cleansing Routine

Why You Should Add Witch Hazel To Your Cleansing Routine

Witch hazel has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries by indigenous people in North America.

The plant was named "witch hazel" by early settlers in the United States who observed Native Americans using it for medicinal purposes and believed it had magical properties.

Over the years people seemed to forget about this magical plant until in the 19th century, the therapeutic benefits of witch hazel were discovered by American botanist and physician Dr. Charles Hawes.

He observed that witch hazel extract had powerful astringent and anti-inflammatory properties that effectively treated various skin ailments.

He developed a steam distillation process for witch-hazel twigs, which led to the creation of a product called "Hawes Extract." This product was sold in Essex, Connecticut, by a druggist and chemist named Alvan Whittemore with enormous success.

The popularity and consistent and powerful results of these products led to witch hazel becoming a common ingredient in many over-the-counter skincare products today.

Here are some ancient proven reasons why you might want to consider using witch hazel:
