Hair Tricks To Save The Day
Frizzy hair?
Three words, Flat. Iron. Brush. They are game-changers. If there is one available, grab it. It heats up at the speed of light. Quickly run it through the hair. Thanks to its detangling bristles and polishing ceramic plates, a flat-iron brush will take your hair from frizzy to silky smooth within minutes! Press, slide and go. It's travel-friendly and an excellent way to straighten the hair on the go. If you don't own a flat iron brush and are in an emergency, use hand lotion as an alternative smoothing cream. Edward Tricomi, co-owner of Warren-Tricomi Salons, explains that "A dab of hand lotion gives flyaways weight. Also, the cream's moisture helps fight frizz by filling empty hair follicles, preventing them from soaking up any frizz-inducing moisture in the air." Please make sure you only use a dab so that it doesn't make your hair look greasy.
BUT I LIKE MY CURLS.
Want to keep the curls but eliminate frizz? Use a robust curl-conditioning spray. One of my favorites, Marc Anthony Strictly Curls 3 Day Curls Curl it Up Styling Spray, 6.8 fl oz.
Mist the spray on dry hair and comb it through with a wide-tooth comb. You can air-dry or dry with a diffuser for 1-3 minutes. Your hair will have as much bounce as a Beyonce video. Is no product available? Splash a little water or hand lotion on the frizzy areas of the hair and scrunch. In the case of a super emergency- side braid it, girl! It's quick, cute and after about 15-20 minutes, you can take it out, and your hair will have beautiful curly waves. BAM!
Hair Flat as a pancake?
Never fear Aquage Thickening Spraygel is magic in a bottle. It will take you from a timid kitten to a fierce lion. It works well on its own, or you can use the round brush trick. Mist the thickening spray onto the brush; doing so will help avoid weighing the hair down. Next, place the brush at the roots and slowly wrap the brush around your hair. Blast the dryer's cool button, then switch to hot for a few seconds- The temperature change helps hold and add volume. **It's imperative to focus on the crown. That is where your hair retains the most volume. No product on hand? Flip hair upside down and "shampoo" your hair with your fingers and flip back over. If you're in a public restroom, do it under the hand dryer. Make this motion until you reach a decent amount of volume.
Brighten it up by adding highlights with a shimmering eyeshadow. Really. It's a great in-between color trick to blend and brighten your whole look, so roots are less noticeable. Add a little color to your hair by spraying hairspray where you want the highlights, then brush in a shade of shimmering eyeshadow that matches your hair color. You'll go from a dull rock to a dazzling rock!
A Dull ROCK
A DAZZLING ROCK |
Last but certainly not least, if your hair is oily, grab the dry shampoo, baby powder ( if you're blonde), or if you're really in a bind, a toilet seat cover. Believe it or not, they do a pretty good job at soaking up oil.
