Dry Hair Causes and Remedies

Dry and Damaged hair can result from a lot of external factors:

·       Harsh shampoo

·       Shampooing too often

·       Hair dye

·       Hair perms

·       Chlorine in swimming pools and hot tubs

·       Overuse of the blow dryer or curling iron

·       Too much exposure to sun and wind

·       High mineral content in local water supplies

·       Certain medications

·       Nutritional deficiency

·      Prolonged illness

It’s important to start taking care of breakage prone hair ASAP

1. Cut down on the number of times you wash your hair a week. Washing hair too much strips hair of its natural oils. Try Dry shampoo instead. Here’s ONE of my favorite dry shampoos! It is terrific for ALL hair types.

2. Condition, Condition, Condition! Start at the ends; this is where hair is the weakest. Let the conditioner sit for a minute or two. Add vinegar to your conditioner for shine. Most conditioners work well. Just avoid any products with alcohol in them.

3. Invest in a quality brush. A good brush does make a difference, and boar brushes are best for dry hair.

4. Eat Foods HIGH in essential fatty acids.

🔺 5. When Blowdrying hair, use a thermal protector first. ðŸ”º

6. Use a weekly oil or hair mask treatment. Neutrogena has an affordable one that's pretty good! Check out my review in the video below.

7.  Blow Dry on low heat and ALWAYS use a leave in conditioner on the ends of hair.
