Beauty Knows NO Age
On a flight back to LA, I sat next to an older lady, probably in her late 70's. We started chatting, and she asked me what I did for a living. I told her I was in the business of making people feel good and stay beautiful. =) She laughed and said to me that was nice, but at her age, there was "NO helping this DINOSAUR!" I laughed but was curious what SHE thought was beautiful? Her answer was, "Me at thirty." and all I could think about was how I still thought both my grandmas were still BEAUTIFUL at 77 and 88!
We are so bombarded by ads that scream at us-"youthfulness is beauty" that we forget how long it takes to find acceptance of ourselves. That usually happens when the first lines start to show up. Imagine all the beautiful stories and wisdom your grandparents hold. I work with "beautiful" people all the time in their 20's and 30's, and even though they have the prettiest eyes or longest hair, they can be so "UGLY" because of the way they view the world- so selfishly as if the world owed them something because of the way they look versus what they have to offer.
Physical beauty is society's definition of beauty. The kind that makes people want to sleep with you. I'm talking about the beauty I've experienced when speaking to many older people in their 50' 60's and 70's - who are filled with so much wisdom and vibrancy that I've left their presence with a smile on MY face feeling peaceful, wiser, and prettier. If you encounter a person that can make that much of an impact on you .... (no matter what they look like), You've experienced genuine beauty.
I honestly believe you're as beautiful (or young) as you view yourself, how YOU feel, and the direct way you make others feel.

I'm not cliche,' and I'm not telling you to stop using makeup and become Mother Theresa, be aware beauty is a knowing of what makes YOU beautiful beyond hair and makeup. Otherwise, you're in for a sad awakening when you do start to age. ;p
It's funny, as I'm writing this, I feel like I'm getting more and more like my grandma, and I'm pretty happy about that.
These beautiful words written by Gemma Brunk says it all,

Thank God for the blessings of age and the wisdom, patience, and maturity that goes with it.”
