Pink's Strong Message On Image Standards
Who isn't a massive fan of the rebellious beauty Pink!? She's always bringing us fresh beats, new looks, and compelling messages about the real meaning of beauty. We ran across Pink's oldie but goodie songs/videos "Stupid Girls" and "F&^*ing Perfect. We love the strong message that beauty IS power but only if it's accompanied by brains and a strong sense of who you are.
In the age of photoshop and filters, it's no wonder men and women of all ages feel "less than perfect." They feel misunderstood because they don't agree with the "status quo" or their self-image doesn't mold into the media's definition of "perfect."
To the "less than perfect" person, they must alienate themselves from others because they are "ugly" and not "good enough." They feel no one understands them, and they feel loneliness and depression and may reach a point where they feel numb inside.
To cope and to express their emotions of rage, rejection, desperation, and emptiness, they may turn to drugs or self-inflicted injuries.
Pink's video F***ing Perfect depicts the importance of letting go of the illusion of perfection because there is no such thing as perfection. It brings awareness to an increasing problem of kids hurting themselves, especially here in the US.
"Making this video was a very emotional experience for me, as was writing this song. I have a life inside of me, and I want her or him to know that I will accept him or her with open and loving, and welcoming arms. And though I will prepare this little munchkin for a sometimes cruel world, I will also equip this kid to see all the beauty in it as well. There are good people in this world that are open-minded and loving. There are those that accept us with all of our flaws. I do that with my fans/friends, and I will do that with my child, whoever they decide to be."-Pink
