May The Inward and Outward Woman Be As One

Making Faces

I was rummaging through some of my old beauty books and came across a CLASSIC-- Making Faces by Kevyn Aucoin.

This book was so ahead of its time. The makeup looks are stunning and contemporary.

Kevyn knew how to use makeup as a way to set women apart from each other, enhancing their natural beauty. Here are just a few of my favorite looks from Making Faces.

I am a HUGE fan of the neutral look. I love how Kevyn enhanced model, Naomi Campbell's natural shading, and contours. He did a fabulous job accentuating her best features.  Neutral is always recommended for a great daytime look!

"Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication."  This look is simple but "The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak."   Woohoo! I couldn't have said it better myself.  Think little black dress, light eyes, and a bold red lipstick! Really, what else do you need? Well, maybe a cocktail! ;p

This look is loud and bold. It breaks so many of the traditional "rules" of makeup. I like that because there should be no rules. Your face, your canvas!

If you follow my blog, you know, I am a HUGE fan of the smokey eye and light lips. Also known as the "Diva" look. Very Sexy.Everyone should try this look at least once.  XO
