Turn your face away from the sun and the wrinkles will fall off

“Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the hell happened?!?”

There is nothing worse than feeling like a vibrant, active, youthful “cougar” looking to pounce from the inside, but when you look in the mirror, you see a broken down, pre-historic, mountain lion. Really, who wants that?!  And though, the cosmetic companies love that you spend billions of dollars a year on anti-aging creams, the best way to protect from an empty wallet and wrinkled skin is to prevent wrinkles and damage in the first place.

Prevention saves money

The number one cause of uneven skin tone, age spots, and premature wrinkles is the sun and according to Web MD, “Over time, the sun's ultraviolet light damages the fibers in the skin called elastin. When these fibers breakdown, the skin begins to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to go back into place after stretching.” Basically, what Web MD is trying to say is— the sun turns you into a Shar Pei.

Unless you’re a vampire or dating one that can bite you into youthfulness, avoid the sun, like most people avoid Mel Gibson in particular between the hours of 10 Am and 4 pm, when Mel Gibson and the suns rays are the strongest.

It’s very, very, important to use an SPF 30 or higher and don’t forget the ears and lips. I stop at SPF 30 because studies have shown there's no proof of better protection with an SPF over 30.

  1. Good job Lisa, very informative. I think most folks are aware of the suns ability to cause you harm but need to see and hear more examples of how it can, and how it can be prevented.
